General Hospital's Hudson West Can't Wait for the Daytime Emmys

This year’s youngest Daytime Emmy Awards nominee may also be the most excited! Hudson West debuted on GENERAL HOSPITAL as Jake Spencer on April 25, 2016, and now, two years later, is preparing to attend his very first Daytime Emmys — and as a nominee! “It’s an amazing experience just to be nominated,” he told Soaps In Depth of his nod in the Outstanding Younger Actor category. “I’m really excited but I’m a little nervous. I’m just very, very honored to be nominated.”

Because of the age range for the category, West has also found himself competing against older actors like DAYS OF OUR LIVES’ Casey Moss (JJ) and Lucas Adams (Tripp), THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL’s Rome Flynn (ex-Zende), and THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Tristan Lake Leabu (Reed). “Yeah!” he exclaimed. “There’s 25 year olds! It’s a really big range.”

But West is holding his own among the older actors because of his incredible performances as Jake dealt with being brainwashed by Helena Cassadine and his real father Jason’s return from the dead! And he credits GH associate producer Nneka Garland with helping him put together his fantastic Emmy reel. “Also my mom and my acting coach helped out a little bit,” he confided. “Nneka at GH put them all together.”

Although he was with the soap last year at this time, West did not attend the Daytime Emmy Awards in 2017, so this year’s ceremony will be his very first — and he’s also a nominee to boot! “It’s gonna be an amazing experience,” he enthused. “My mom, my dad, and my brother are coming. They’re flying out from Ohio and they’ll come to the Emmys with me.”
