AMC’s Genzel Goes To Court!

Tags:

In 2006, Mary Winkler made national headlines when she shot and killed her emotionally abusive, clergyman husband while he slept in their Tennessee home. Now, the tale has been made into a Lifetime Original movie, The Pastor’s Wife, starring Rose McGowan (CHARMED), Michael Shanks (SMALLVILLE), and ALL MY CHILDREN’s Carrie Genzel (Skye). “I play the D.A., Elizabeth Rice, who prosecutes the case,” Genzel tells Soaps In Depth. “I got to brush off my Southern accent, which was a lot of fun.”

In the film, the actress puts McGowan’s Mary on hot seat in the courtroom, resulting in a controversial verdict. “Rose does a wonderful job bringing Mary Winkler to life. I really enjoyed working with her and making her squirm on the stand,” Genzel says with a smile. “In between the drama of the material we all had a lot of laughs and joked around a lot to ease the tension of what we were playing out.”

The Pastor’s Wife premieres Saturday, November 5, at 8 p.m. EST, and encores Sunday November 6, at 12 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST.
