Dominic Zamprogna Explores Work Outside of GENERAL HOSPITAL!

Tags:

When his story on GENERAL HOSPITAL gets light, Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) digs into his own projects and looks into guest gigs in primetime or kids’ TV. But not all opportunities are created equal!

“I pick and choose which auditions to go on,” Zamprogna says. “I’ve tested for a few things that didn’t work out. You get close and then it’s, ‘Screw it, I have a job: I don’t need to go out and get another one.’ You have to drive an hour across town for a 10-minute audition and when you get home, you’ve missed two and a half hours of the day for something you might not be super into. Sometimes it’s not worth the hassle… and sometimes it is.”

That’s why Zamprogna spent much of the recent lull in Dante’s story hanging with his family and working on a few side projects, including his longtime effort to bring Charles Ponzi’s life story to the screen. “I’ve had the rights to the story for about eight years,” reports Zamprogna, whose producing partner is an old high school pal. “In the last two years, we’ve gotten into partnership with some big-time guys and we’re at the revised script stage right now, so it’s moving forward, which is really exciting.”

In the new ABC issue of Soaps In Depth, on stands now, Zamprogna talks more about his side projects, as well as Dante, the women in his life, and Father’s Day. Don’t miss it!
