Listen to Garren Stitt’s New Song, ‘Acting’
Fans of Garren Stitt who miss seeing him as Oscar on GENERAL HOSPITAL can enjoy a whole new side of the Daytime Emmy Award-nominated young actor as he has just released “Acting,” the first single from his upcoming EP, Heartbreak Lake! Although some may not be aware that he has a music career on the side since he uses the name Garren Lake for it.
In a series of video diary entries on his Instagram, Lake documented the creation of “Acting” starting with finding just the right background rhythm for the song. “I got in the studio and the first thing I did was I pulled up a lot of beats,” he explained. “There was really dope ones in there but none of them were matching the vibe. I finally came across one beat that just stood out to me. It matched the vibe I was going for and I really, really wanted to tell my story on it.”
Unfortunately, day two didn’t go well as the performer had trouble turning his feelings into lyrics. “Everything I was trying to write didn’t match my emotion,” he admitted. “It didn’t match my feeling.” Determined to use the dreamy beat he’d found, Lake brought in some help. “I started thinking, I can’t come up with the words, I can’t describe how I’m feeling,” he revealed, “so I called up my boy Dalton. He came through and he honestly saved that night. We sat down and he was like, ‘What are you going through?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s this girl. And we had just broken up and every girl I was hanging out with or chilling with just didn’t feel the same as that girl.’ He is the reason we have ‘Acting’ today.
“I love the record,” Lake declared. “I hope you guys love it, too. I’m super excited for you guys to hear it. I really hope that you love it. It has all my feelings, all my emotions down in it. And I think ‘Acting’ is the perfect fit for Heartbreak Lake.”
