After studying at the Lee Strasberg Theater Buchanan got his big break in 1986 when he joined the cast of GH as Duke. After three years in the role, he left and appeared in primetime with roles on series like IT’S GARRY SHANDLING’S SHOW and TWIN PEAKS. He also guest-starred on many shows, including THE FLASH, QUANTUM LEAP, and THE NANNY.

Buchanan returned to daytime in 1993, joining THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL as psychiatrist Dr. James Warwick. Though he left the soap in 1999, the actor has reprised the role numerous times over the following years. In 2002, Buchanan was cast on GH sister soap PORT CHARLES as the evil Joshua Temple.

Buchanan’s next daytime role was on ALL MY CHILDREN from 2005 to 2006 where he played Dr. Greg Madden, a fertility specialist who was involved in the controversial storyline that introduced the now-adult son that Erica Kane had believed she’d aborted as a teen. He also had a brief stint on DAYS OF OUR LIVES in 2012 as Ian McAllister before returning to GH later that year. Unfortunately, in 2015, Duke was tragically killed off, leaving fans devastated.
