Who Is Joe Scully on General Hospital?

Sonny Corinthos has had quite the criminal past on GENERAL HOSPITAL, but one name from his history has been coming up quite often lately, and it’s leading newer viewers to wonder who is Joe Scully? The character appeared briefly on-screen from 1994-95, played by actor Robert Miano, but his connection with Sonny started many years earlier.

Sonny got his start in the mob by working for Joe, and when he confided to the kingpin how his mother, Adela Corinthos, had been abused by his stepfather, Deke Woods, Joe decided to “take care” of the problem. He ensured that Sonny would have an alibi and shot Deke dead himself.

Scully showed up in Port Charles at the opening of Luke Spencer and Sonny’s blues club where Mike Corbin, Sonny’s biological father, was also working. Damian Smith teamed up with Katherine Bell to get revenge on Lucy Coe, and asked Scully to sabotage her cosmetics company, Deception. Later, when Luke’s club was bombed, Sonny found out that Frank Smith’s lawyer, Phil Cusack, was trying to move in his turf. Sonny found a non-violent way to deal with the goons who bombed the club, but Cusack was found dead and Sonny learned that that Scully had ordered the hit on Cusack.

Lucy, working with Luke and Sonny, acted as bait to ensnare Damian and Scully. But this led to the mobster kidnapping Lucy and Luke and Sonny raced to her rescue (with an assist from Damian). Scully shot at Sonny, but hit Mike instead. Before Scully could get off another shot, Sonny shot his former mentor dead.

Many years later, it was revealed that Scully had a son, Joe Scully, Jr., who was just as dangerous as his father and was killed by Jason Morgan in 2012. And now it turns out that while working for Scully in Bensonhurst back in the day, Sonny buried a body for him. Unfortunately, Mike tried to protect his son by digging up that corpse and putting it somewhere else, but it turns out that the basement of Charlie’s Pub wasn’t really the best hiding place! After a gas explosion, the body has come to light, and it appears that it might belong to D.A. Margaux Dawson’s missing father!
