GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Kristen Alderson Reveals Her New Role in ‘The Marvelous Wonderettes’

Tags:

It’s been over three years since Kristen Alderson last appeared as Kiki Jerome on GENERAL HOSPITAL, but she still has plenty of fans who are eager to find out where she’s going to appear next. And after teasing them for over a week, the actress has finally announced that she is hitting the stage in the The Marvelous Wonderettes!

Back on April 4, she piqued fans’ interest when she tweeted “Guys! Exciting things, exciting things are happening…” Naturally, her fans were hoping she would be returning to Port Charles or joining the cast of another daytime drama, but she quickly popped that particular bubble. “Ha ha! Sorry for the tease,” she later clarified. “I’ll at least tell ya it’s not about GH or another soap.”

Alderson finally put her fans out of their misery when she revealed that she will now be joining the cast in an off-Broadway musical! “New York City stage, here I come!” she tweeted. “I am SO excited to be joining the extremely talented cast of The Marvelous Wonderettes. I’m on stage and singing the WHOLE show! Wish me luck and come see me! I want to meet you!”

The Marvelous Wonderettes tells the story of Springfield High Songleaders Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy, and Suzy, who are called upon to perform at their senior prom as a last minute replacement and the drama that ensues. They sing classic songs from the ’50s and ‘60s like “It’s My Party,” “Mr. Sandman,” “You Don’t Own Me” and many more.

The show was first produced in 1999 in Milwaukee and made its off-Broadway debut in 2008 where it ran until 2010. It returned for a revival in 2016, and starred Alderson’s former ONE LIFE TO LIVE castmate Kathy Brier (Marcie) as Suzy! Alderson hasn’t specified which role she’ll be playing, so you’ll have to check out the show to see for yourself!

The Marvelous Wonderettes perform on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at Theater Row at 410 West 42nd Street in New York City. You can get tickets by calling 212-239-6200 or by visiting telecharge.com!
