That’s Patty McCormack Playing Monica Quartermaine on GENERAL HOSPITAL While Leslie Charleson Recovers

Tags:

Ouch! GENERAL HOSPITAL veteran actress Leslie Charleson injured her leg in a fall, meaning the role of Monica Quartermaine will need to be temporarily recast while she recovers. “Leslie’s beloved dog, Riley Rose, was a little too eager for her morning walk and tripped Leslie, injuring her leg,” the soap posted on the official GH Facebook page. “Unfortunately she will need to be replaced in shows already written. We wish her a speedy recovery and all the best.”

A beloved veteran of GH since her debut in 1977, Charleson was naturally inundated with get-well-soon messages from fans. “I’m overwhelmed by all your comments and well wishes since my fall,” the actress tweeted. “I’ll do my best to heal quickly because there’s nothing more I’d like to do than get back on my horse and back in the Quartermaine living room! My love and thanks to you all!”

While Charleson gets herself back in fighting shape, Monica will be played by Patty McCormack, who is best known for playing the evil Rhoda Penmark in the classic movie The Bad Seed. This won’t be the actress’ first foray into daytime, however, as her IMDb page lists a brief turn on CBS sudser AS THE WORLD TURNS as a temporary recast for Kathryn Hayes as Kim Hughes.

Please join us in welcoming McCormack to the GH family and also to Charleson for a speedy recover so she can return to Port Charles very soon. For more GH news, keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth magazine!
