Mark Lawson Returns to GENERAL HOSPITAL as Dustin
Some ABC Daytime fans recognized Dustin Phillips, Lulu’s date in the July 9 episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL, because they remember actor Mark Lawson from ONE LIFE TO LIVE, where he played Brody from 2008 to 2012. It seemed unusual that the soap would hire such a charming and talented actor for a simple one-off role, and now the suspicions have been prove right as TV Insider broke the news that Lawson will be back on GH starting with the episode airing on Tuesday, July 23! “It was really hard not to talk about it,” he admitted to the site, “but I hope the surprise was worth it!”
The day following his first appearance in Port Charles, the actor took to social media to thank everyone who responded so positively to his return to daytime. “Good morning!” he said. “I just wanted to send out a little post of gratitude to everyone who tuned in, or has since watched GH yesterday, and posted comments and just spread the word that I got to be on yesterday. It was so much fun. I’ve had my eye on GH for a while, and was really glad that I got to do that. I just want to say everybody there is a consummate pro. It’s a wonderful set to work on. It’s fast, but it’s fun, and it felt like a homecoming. So thank you very much, and all the love to everybody at GH.”
With Lulu reeling from Dante serving her with divorce papers, it’s unlikely she’ll be interested in another date with Dustin so soon, but at least he’ll be available to offer a shoulder to lean on during this difficult time. And who knows what the future might hold for them? There are no details as to just how long Lawson’s stint as Dustin will be, so stay tuned to see how the story unfolds.
