GH's Rebecca Budig and Michael Easton Share Heartfelt Goodbyes

It feels like Hayden only just returned to Port Charles and now Rebecca Budig is leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL again. “It’s hard to say goodbye once,” the actress admitted on Instagram with a photo of herself and Michael Easton (Finn). “And twice is that much harder. Then add the beautiful, sweet, magical Jophielle Love (Violet) and it’s heartbreaking.

“I want to thank all those GH fans that show up every day and are passionate about this show and our characters,” she added. “I will miss my friend… for those like him are hard to come by. But I know our paths will cross again. Or at least, one can hope!”

Easton shared the same sentiment on his Facebook page. “I hate goodbyes,” he confided. “I know you do, too. Maybe we’re lucky to even have something that makes saying goodbye so hard. In that sense, I guess I shouldn’t be sad because it’s over but happy because it even happened. But that’s really hard to do when you’re missing your friend. Of course, this isn’t just a ‘goodbye’ but a ‘thank you.’ Thank you for being so damn good at what you do. For lighting up a stage. Finding truth in the words. For making me better at what I do.

“Then again, maybe there are no ‘goodbyes’ for us,” Easton continued. “I imagine wherever you are, wherever you go, a part of you will remain with me. And maybe this is not forever. Maybe it’s not the end. So I’ll think about the beautiful days… Until we meet again.”

Love, who plays Hayden and Finn’s daughter, also believes that her on-screen mom will return one day. “I know you’ll be back!” she commented on Budig’s Instagram post. “It doesn’t make sense without you. I’ll be waiting for our big hug and kisses!”

Budig first joined the cast of GH in 2015 for a few months before her character was put into a coma. But she soon came out of it and caused no end of drama before skipping town in 2017. In 2019, Hayden was back to drop the bombshell that Finn was a daddy and get mixed up in the drama of the Cassadine will with Jax and Nikolas. With her being part of big front-burner storylines, Hayden’s sudden departure came as a bit of a shock to many fans. But with so much story left to tell with the character, they’re also hopeful Budig will reprise her role once again.
