GH's Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson Dish Their New Podcast

Like GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Jason and Spinelli, Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson are close pals and every Wednesday, you can hang with them via their new podcast! Burton had been wanting to launch a podcast for years, and with the Stone Cold and the Jackal road show selling out around the country, sitting down with co-host Anderson for a weekly series seemed the natural call. “I found the right guy to do it with, because we can talk for hours without really talking about anything,” Burton cracked to Soaps In Depth. “My father-in-law was like, ‘What do you guys talk about for an hour every week?’ [I tell him,] ‘Well, you’ve got to listen! “We’ve got stories about the road, the show, being parents and then, of course, guests. We want people to enjoy the podcast and get a real peek behind the curtain of what our lives are like.”

Those who’ve never heard Burton riff with Anderson might be surprised by how funny and silly the podcasts get. But for the guys, the biggest surprise has been how guests like Maurice Benard (Sonny), Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis), Max Gail (Mike) and Kin Shriner (Scotty) open up so fully on a personal level. “They sit there talking to us about things they might not talk about in regular interviews,” Burton revealed. “We talk about so much, but it’s less about GH story than people’s interesting pasts and how they got here. It didn’t really start out that way, but the journey is so interesting — and relatable! We just want to be real with the people… and make them laugh.”

Since Anderson lives in Sacramento, guests are chosen based on who’s working at GH when he’s in L.A. “A lot of people make requests for certain guests, but it’s totally dictated by schedule,” he said. “It’s not that we really want to talk to this person and don’t want to talk to that person. We’re thrilled to talk to anybody!” At this point, they’re about halfway through the GH cast. “There are so many interesting people on and off GH we’re looking forward to having — and then we’re going to jump to other daytime shows,” Bur ton previewed. “Eventually, we’re going to jump out of daytime!”

Anderson noted that listeners don’t have to be tech-savvy or rich to enjoy their show. “What I love about the podcast is anyone can get it anywhere, and it’s free,” he explained. “There are a lot of people who can’t see us on the road or aren’t on social media. With the podcast, there’s no barrier.”

All you need to tune in Wednesdays or catch up on past episodes is Internet access. “We list every service you can listen on, and we give you the ability to listen on the Web site, stonecoldandthejackal.com, too,” Anderson declared. “We also encourage people to subscribe to the show, because every week, I get people saying they can’t find the podcast. So subscribe!”
