Kelly Sullivan Reveals How She Almost Returned to GENERAL HOSPITAL (EXCLUSIVE)

Tags:

Fans of GENERAL HOSPITAL won’t soon forget the special episode that aired in January of 2018 when Ava had an extended nightmare where she was confronted with all of her past crimes, especially because it included visits from beyond the grave from two fan-favorite characters. But while Bryan Craig was able to reprise his role of Morgan Corinthos for the day, it was Connie Falconeri’s original portrayer, Megan Ward, who stepped in for Kelly Sullivan, who was playing the character when she was killed off. “They did call me,” Sullivan revealed to Soaps In Depth. “Which would’ve been awesome, but the timing was just crap.”

The character of Connie Falconeri was introduced back in May of 2007 with Ward playing the woman from Sonny’s past who was now going by the name Kate Howard. In 2011, the role was recast with Sullivan, who remained with the soap until Ava shot and killed the character in 2013. “I miss Kate and Connie so much,” Sullivan admitted. “I miss all the people there. My friends, the fans.”

The original plan was to have Sullivan return to play Connie again, but unfortunately it was not to be. “It’s funny, because when I got the call, I was in Maui for a close family friend’s wedding,” the actress recalled. “And I was actually on the beach under an umbrella and it was a call from [executive producer] Frank Valentini. He explained to me what was going on. And at the time I had just booked a movie, it was supposed to film for like, two weeks over that month. So we went back and forth and back and forth and at first I was going to be able to do it and then the movie just conflicted so I wasn’t able to do it. Which really bummed me out because my God, I would’ve been able to see all my friends.”

Maybe the next time Ava is haunted by her past crimes, Sullivan will be available to do the haunting! For more on your favorite GH stars — past and present — keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth magazine!
