GENERAL HOSPITAL’s William Lipton Uses His Talents to Give Back to the Community

Tags:

When William Lipton made his debut as the new Cameron Webber on GENERAL HOSPITAL this summer, he immediately added a new twist to the budding romance between Josslyn and Oscar. “I’ve always had kind of this little thing for Josslyn,” the young actor told Kristen Sze in character for an interview with ABC7. “And now I’ve been introduced back into the show to cause a little trouble in paradise for Oscar and Josslyn.”

A sophomore at San Mateo High School, the Bay Area native revealed that a typical week entails spending two or three days down in Los Angeles with his mother so that he can tape his episodes of GH. “When we’re there, we stay at a hotel,” Lipton explained, “and at the set I do homework and work with my set teacher and my fellow actors, and then tape it and go back home.” It’s a whirlwind of activity for the 15-year-old, but he’s loving every minute of it. “It’s been such an incredible experience,” he enthused. “All the actors are so talented and amazing. It’s been great being able to learn from them and work with them.”

He’s a talented young actor, but Lipton’s first love was really music. “I’ve been singing ever since I’ve been able to make sound,” he joked. “Singing has always been a big passion of mine. Six years old, I started to play music with other kids, and now currently I’m in the band WJM.” That stands for William, Jeremy, and Max, the young artists who are using their music to try and make a positive change, with songs about voting, social injustice, and the like. “Since we were nine years old,” Lipton confided, “we’ve always felt a strong want to give back to the community and being able to do something you love and be able to help other people is such an amazing experience.” Check out this music video for their song, “Head Underwater!”

And whether his future follows acting, music, or a combination of both, he’s excited to see what comes next. “I’m just really looking forward to seeing where life takes me,” Lipton declared, “and I just really hope that I’ll be continuing doing what I love.”
