Best wishes to GENERAL HOSPITAL alum Julie Berman who celebrates her birthday today! The actress is beloved by soap fans for her portrayal of the irrepressible Lulu Spencer, a role she began playing in 2005. She ultimately opted not to renew her contract with the show and left in 2013. During her time on GH, Berman racked up an impressive four Daytime Emmy Award nominations, taking home the trophy for Outstanding Younger Actress three times, in 2009, 2010, and 2013.

Berman made her television debut with a recurring role as Shelby Connor on the WB family drama 7TH HEAVEN and later added another recurring role on the ABC series ONCE AND AGAIN. She also guest-starred on ER and BOSTON PUBLIC as well as starring alongside Shelly Long in the TV movie Vanished Without a Trace.

After leaving GH, Berman has found success in other roles, playing the recurring role of Dr. Sam Zanetti on NBC’s CHICAGO MED and moving from recurring to series regular on the Hulu comedy CASUAL for its second season. She also starred in the Hallmark Channel original movie Love on Ice.

Berman was replaced on GH by Emme Rylan, who has been playing Lulu since 2013, but many fans of the soap fondly remember her portrayal of the feisty Spencer girl. Her chemistry with Dominic Zamprogna helped make Dante and Lulu one of the more popular supercouples in Port Charles.
