Goldsberry Returns To Broadway!

Renée Elise Goldsberry (ex-Evangeline, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) has made a name for herself in the theater world by appearing on Broadway in The Color Purple, The Lion King and Rent. Now the actress is returning to The Great White Way in a new play, Good People, from Pulitzer Prize-winner David Lindsay-Abaire, who wrote the critically-acclaimed Nicole Kidman film, The Rabbit Hole. “It’s another ‘Who’s Who’ cast,” Goldsberry says of performing opposite Frances McDormand, Tate Donovan, Estelle Parsons, and Becky Ann Baker in the production. “It’s really exciting and a huge honor to be acting with these top-notch, wonderful actors.”

In the tale, a down-on-her-luck woman (McDormand) looks up an old flame (Donovan) and tries to cash in on his success. “I will be Tate’s wife!” Goldsberry reveals. “This was the one time in my life when I read something on the page and couldn’t imagine another human being — even someone who’s not an actor — that could be this person more than me. It just fit so perfectly!”

Previews begin at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on Tuesday, February 8, and the play opens Thursday, March 3.
