Kelly Ripa Joins Husband Mark Consuelos on RIVERDALE

Tags:

It seems that RIVERDALE is keeping it all in the family! ALL MY CHILDREN alum Mark Consuelos (Mateo) has been starring as Hiram Lodge in the CW series since the beginning of season two, and now his real-life wife (and former AMC co-star) Kelly Ripa (Hayley) has announced that she’ll be appearing on the primetime drama as well! “It’s a family affair,” the actress teased on her Instagram. “Hiram’s mistress. 23 years of auditioning for a role I was born to play.”

Soaps In Depth has learned that she will be playing the character of Mrs. Mulwray, a beautiful, icy, femme fatale who is Hiram’s alleged mistress. She finds herself caught up in a conspiracy that’s much bigger than she initially realized. Her episode is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 30, so be sure to tune in!

Before Ripa’s guest stint on RIVERDALE was revealed, their son, Michael Consuelos, appeared as a younger version of his father, playing a teenaged Hiram in flashback scenes in the episode that aired on Nov. 7. This was Michael’s first big on-camera acting role following some voice work for cartoons DUCK DODGERS and GO, DIEGO! GO!

Ripa launched her incredible show biz career by playing Hayley on AMC, and while she has continued acting, outside of the sitcom HOPE & FAITH, most of her appearances on series like UGLY BETTY, 30 ROCK, and FAMOUS IN LOVE, have seen the actress playing herself. Not that she has too much time for moonlighting with her regular gig of hosting the daily talk show LIVE! WITH KELLY AND RYAN with Ryan Seacrest!

So be sure to tune in to see Ripa and Consuelos sharing the screen again, and for more on what your favorite AMC stars are up to now, keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth magazine!
