ONE LIFE TO LIVE’s Renée Elise Goldsberry Stars With Oprah Winfrey in New Movie ‘The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks’

Renée Elise Goldsberry has come a long way since playing ONE LIFE TO LIVE’s Evangeline — She’s now starring in a new movie opposite Oprah Winfrey called The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks!

As part of the Broadway smash, Hamilton, Goldsberry nabbed a Tony Award. And just after announcing her exit from the musical, it was revealed she’s starring in a new Netflix sci-fi series called ALTERED CARBON! Now, Deadline is reporting that Goldsberry has been cast in the title role in the upcoming HBO film The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.

Based on a true story, Goldsberry will play Henrietta Lacks, an African-American woman whose cells were used to create the first immortal human cell line. The story will be told from the perspective of her daughter, played by Winfrey, who searches for information about the mother she never knew. She will discover how harvesting her mother’s cancerous cells led to medical breakthroughs that changed lives forever.

They’re still casting the film, so shooting hasn’t even started yet, but when this inspirational film is nearing release, we’ll be sure to let you know so you can see Goldsberry in yet another phenomenal role!
