Rebecca Herbst isn’t Leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL!

It’s official — Rebecca Herbst has signed a new multi-year deal to continue playing Elizabeth Webber on GENERAL HOSPITAL!

After earlier reports that Herbst was close to reaching an agreement with GH, TV Insider spoke with the actress, who revealed that the contract negotiations came right down to the wire, but she and the soap were finally able to strike a deal.

“There was a lot of speculation that I was unhappy at GH, which was never the case,” she said. “I love my job. I love the people I work with. I felt so bad that I couldn’t interact with the fans and answer all their questions, but you’re not allowed to talk when these contract things are going on.”

Herbst was also coy when discussing the rumors that DAYS OF OUR LIVES was interested in snatching her up. “I will say that other shows definitely showed interest in me,” she confided. “I just shouldn’t name any one particular show.”

The daytime vet was also grateful for the support of her legions of ardent fans. “They literally got me through the contract [talks] day by day,” Herbst admitted. “When I was doubting myself, and thinking that I might not be able to stay on GH, I would read their comments on the internet and feel so secure in whatever decision I made. Everything they did throughout the last two months has been remarkable. I wish I could hug them all.”
