Daytime Stars Remember Hollywood Legend Garry Marshall

Legendary director and producer Garry Marshall died Tuesday at the age of 81 from complications of pneumonia following a stroke. As Hollywood mourned, the stars of daytime took to social media to share their memories and photos of the great man.

Billy Warlock (ex-A.J., GENERAL HOSPITAL; ex-Frankie, DAYS OF OUR LIVES), who appeared on Marshall’s HAPPY DAYS as Leopold “Flip” Phillips, tweeted, “RIP Mr. Marshall. Such a talented and kind man. I thank you so much for giving me my start. You will be so missed.”

GH’s Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie), who appeared in the Marshall-directed soap spoof, Young Doctors in Love, shared a photo of herself laughing on set with him. “RIP and God bless,” she wrote. “It was an honor to work with you and a joy to know you.”

Melissa Fumero (Adriana, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) shared a picture from the episode of her series, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, when Marshall guest-starred. “One of the most fun days I’ve ever had,” she wrote. “On set with Garry Marshall. He was so kind. I’ll never forget that day.”

Kate Linder (Esther, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) appeared in Marshall’s recent film, Mother’s Day, and shared a photo with Marshall and his wife, Barbara. “Working with the legendary and amazing Garry Marshall on Mother’s Day was a dream come true,” she wrote. “My love and thoughts to Barbara and family.”

Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren, Y&R) tweeted, “Had a chance to work with this great man. Rest in peace, Garry, you were one in a million.”
