Steve Burton Leaving GH!

GENERAL HOSPITAL may be able to survive Jerry Jacks, but can it survive the loss of Stone Cold himself, Jason Morgan? According to an interview with Steve Burton in TV Guide, that’s exactly what the soap is going to have to do!

Burton has long wanted to move to the country with his family to a house that he bought in Tennessee, and it seems that the fan-favorite actor has decided that now is finally time to say farewell to GH.

“I’ve had a great run on the show,” Burton told Soaps In Depth recently. “I love the show. It’s been my home for 20 years plus. I love the people there. But I’m also ready for other stuff.”

Although his last scheduled day on the set is scheduled for September 25, that could change slightly depending on storyline. But look for Jason to air through October, possibly into November.

With Jason being such a crucial part of Port Charles, his exit would leave Sam, Liz, Sonny and Carly with a big hole in their lives. There’s no word yet as to whether or not GH is even considering recasting the role, but we will continue to pursue this breaking story and bring you updates on final airdates and any other news as it happens!
