GH's Ryan Carnes Says Lucas Won't Forgive Brad for the Baby Switch

Fans were absolutely outraged when Brad agreed to trade his dead baby for the one that Nelle had just delivered herself on GENERAL HOSPITAL, and are waiting for Lucas to discover exactly what his husband did so he can kick him to the curb! Although Lucas’ portrayer, Ryan Carnes, told Soaps In Depth that he understands why a grief-stricken Brad went to such lengths for his family. “Sometimes it’s hard to be human,” he sighed. “When we’re faced with extreme circumstances like a baby dying, in a moment of complete chaos and loss of one’s moral center, something like this could really happen. People do crazy things. People actually steal babies!”

Brad has a history of sketchy behavior on GH, once agreeing to help Britt steal Lulu’s embryo and pass off the baby she carried as Patrick’s. But this time, the baby in question belongs to Lucas’ own family — nephew-in-law Michael. Brad had turned over a new leaf recently, and that’s why he’s been wracked with guilt ever since swapping the babies. “He’s extremely challenged by what’s going on,” Carnes pointed out.

However, the guilt still hasn’t been enough to inspire Brad to come clean about the switch, knowing full well how Lucas will react when he learns the horrible truth. And Carnes is looking forward to playing every single scene leading up to the inevitable explosion. “It’s exciting,” the actor admitted. “Every time I get a script, it feels a bit like Christmas. And what a challenge for Parry Shen (Brad)! What a great ride he’s going on.

“But if Lucas finds out what Brad did,” Carnes promises, “I don’t how how he could ever forgive him.”
