On Dec. 1, the judge in the case of Prospect Park Networks LLC vs American Broadcasting Company dismissed the lawsuit. Back in 2013, Prospect Park brought the suit against ABC claiming that the network signed OLTL actors to secretive contracts without Prospect Park’s knowledge and blocking them from appearing on the online reboots of AMC and OLTL they launched in 2013 on The Online Network.

This complicated legal drama was what meant that actors from OLTL who were brought on to GENERAL HOSPITAL after OLTL‘s cancellation and before the reboot had to suddenly become different characters. Michael Easton’s John was dumped for Silas, Kristen Alderson went from playing Starr to Kiki, and Roger Howarth was no longer Todd, but the new Franco.

However, while the rights to AMC and OLTL are now firmly back in ABC’s hands, it’s unlikely that the network will reverse their decision to cancel the soaps and bring them back on the air. Of course, that hasn’t stopped some dedicated fans from revving up their campaigns to save their favorite soaps.

There has been no indication of what, if anything, ABC intends to do with AMC and OLTL now that they have regained the rights to the sudsers, but if there are any developments in the future, we’ll be sure to let you know!
