Hopefully, the mystery of Drew’s past will soon be solved since Anthony Montgomery is coming back to GENERAL HOSPITAL as Dr. Andre Maddox again! “It was fun being back in Port Charles with my GH family this past week,” the actor posted to Instagram with a photo of himself on the set. He must be in character because Montgomery doesn’t look like he’s having a whole lot of fun in this shot!
After Andre was exposed as being part of the plot to transplant Jason’s memories into Drew’s head, he skipped town and then ended up behind bars. But thanks to his connections, Andre is a free man, and Montgomery can continue to appear on GH on a recurring basis as the story requires. With Drew’s past still a blank, it’s the perfect time for Andre to resurface and hopefully offer some new clues and perhaps even a way to finally restore Drew’s memories.
Montgomery first joined the cast of GH in November of 2015 in the newly-created role of the hospital psychiatrist. He had ill-fated relationships with Jordan and Anna while helping some residents of Port Charles with their mental health issues. After the shocking revelation that he was part of the scheme to replace Jason with Drew, fans worried that would be the last they saw of him, but Montgomery promised that Andre would “still be around.” And in fact, Montgomery earned a 2018 Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor for his work last year, so the soap would be smart to keep this talented performer around!
If he was filming at the beginning of May, you can expect Andre to be showing up again in early June, but as to what he’ll be getting mixed up in this time around, you’ll just have to stay tuned to find out! And for more GH news, keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth magazine!
