Soap fans are gearing up for daytime’s biggest night of the year as the 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards approach. And as the gala event nears, we’ve got answers to all your burning questions about this year’s ceremony!
When are the 2019 Daytime Emmys?
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has revealed that the Daytime Emmy Awards will be held on Sunday, May 5, at 8 p.m. ET. The Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be held two days earlier on Friday, May 3.
Where are the Daytime Emmys being held?
Both the Daytime Emmy Awards and the Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards are being held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, CA. “The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is excited to be moving our signature show to the historic Pasadena Civic Center,” said Chuck Dages, Chairman, NATAS, in 2017 when the change was announced. “With its grand lobby and world-class architecture, it is a fitting location for the Daytime Emmy Awards.”
How can I watch the 2019 Daytime Emmys?
The best way to watch the ceremony is in person, and tickets are actually available on Ticketmaster.com if you're going to be in the area in May to attend along with the stars! As in recent years, the show is slated to be streamed online via various social media platforms and websites and here is a full rundown of the links you can use to watch. Unfortunately, the last time the Daytime Emmys were broadcast on television was back in 2015, when cable network Pop aired the ceremony following 2014’s ill-fated webcast attempt. The 2016 ceremony was not aired or streamed but made available for online viewing the following day.
Who is nominated for a Daytime Emmy?
The major categories were announced live on THE TALK on March 20 and the full list of all of the 2019 Daytime Emmy nominees can be found at this link. And unfortunately, as part of the new rules being instituted for this year's ceremony following last year's rule-breaking that caused Patrika Darbo's Emmy to be revoked, NATAS has announced that they will not be publicly releasing the actor submission reels for the first time in five years. However, GH nominee Chloe Lanier (ex-Nelle) told Soaps In Depth what she submitted, as did some of the nominated Y&R stars and a bunch of the DAYS nominees.
Who is receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award?
Unfortunately, no soap stars are receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 2019 Daytime Emmys. During the Creative Arts Emmy Award ceremony, chef Jacques Pépin, who has hosted numerous cooking shows over the decades, will be honored. And during the Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony, Judge Judith Sheindlin, host of the long-running JUDGE JUDY series, will receive her Lifetime Achievement Award.
Who is hosting the 2019 Daytime Emmys?
Once again, NATAS has tapped Sheryl Underwood and Mario Lopez to host the ceremony. David Osmond is emceeing the Creative Arts Emmys and GENERAL HOSPITAL actress Carolyn Hennesy will be hosting the red carpet pre-show as well as the backstage post-show. In addition, on April 29, NATAS announced which daytime stars would be taking the stage as presenters at both ceremonies.
