Elizabeth would be forgiven for not recognizing her son, because he just had a growth spurt, and now he also is getting a whole new look! William Lipton is taking over as the new Cameron on GENERAL HOSPITAL. “So thrilled!” he exclaimed on Instagram.
He will be replacing Cade McWatt, who made his debut in the July 3 episode of GH and only appeared in a couple of episodes. Previously, the role of Cameron had been played by Michael Leone, but the character was aged this year to bring him in the same age range as Josslyn Jacks and Oscar Nero.
Although Lipton only has a couple of shorts and the yet-to-be-released film The Adventures of Thomasina Sawyer on his IMDb page, his Instagram is full of clips of him singing while playing his guitar, so the young man is clearly talented.
Summer is typically when soaps put their younger characters front and center for storylines, so it would make sense for GH to beef up its teen scene. When they were both played by younger actors, Josslyn had a crush on Cameron and worked with Spencer to split him and Emma up. And now it looks as though Cameron still has feelings for his childhood sweetheart. Maybe now he can use his guitar to woo Joss away from Oscar?
With kids being aged into teens, some GH fans are naturally concerned that Brooklyn Rae Silzer and Nicolas Bechtel, who have been playing Emma and Spencer for years, might also be struck with a case of SORAS. However, there is no indication at this time that GH plans to recast either of those popular actors.
