Finn and Chase’s lives are about to get a whole lot more interesting because James Read is back on GENERAL HOSPITAL as their father, Gregory Chase. The actor made his his debut in the episode that aired on June 6. “Great news for GH!” tweeted Wally Kurth (Ned) when the news broke. “James is a true talent. Looking forward to seeing him around PC!” While Read's first appearance was just for that one episode, Gregory is back for more, and this time in Port Charles to visit his sons starting on Friday, Sept. 21.
Finn was surprised to run into his father while in California with Anna. Gregory attempted to apologize for the rift that had come between then, but Finn couldn’t get over the fact that he felt his dad had moved on too quickly with Chase’s mom after his wife had died. Gregory wanted to try and put the past behind them and move on, but Finn wanted nothing to do with his father and walked out of the cafe.
Kurth is familiar with his new GH castmate because the two worked together on DAYS OF OUR LIVES where Kurth plays Justin Kiriakis and Read had a recurring role as the villainous Clyde Weston from 2014-17. In primetime he has starred in REMINGTON STEELE, CHARMED, AMERICAN DREAMS, and WILDFIRE. He also co-starred alongside GH’s Genie Francis (Laura) in the three North and South miniseries. On the big screen, he can be seen in films like Beaches, Legally Blonde, and Fame.
Dr. Hamilton Finn has been somewhat of a mystery since he arrived in Port Charles back in 2016, but his background filled in a little more when the PCPD hired Detective Harrison Chase and it was revealed that the two men are brothers. While they have different moms, Finn and Chase share the same father, Gregory, and their relationship has been contentious because of it. Finn doesn’t like his younger brother because their father left his mother to be with his. So now that George himself is showing up in Port Charles, perhaps they can finally heal their family? Then again, this may just make things worse!
