The GENERAL HOSPITAL Characters We Want Brought Back From the Dead

Over the years, plenty of characters have been killed off of GENERAL HOSPITAL, but there are some who we would really love to see resurrected. Life and death are part of the circle of life, but in soaps, death is somewhat less permanent than it is in reality. So many times, beloved characters are brought back from the grave with some wild explanation and given a second chance at happiness. And we can think of more than a couple Port Charles residents we’d love to see again.

Now, we’re not talking about classic characters like Edward or Lila Quartermaine, who lived long, full lives. We’re talking about characters who were snuffed out before they had a chance to reach their full potential. But we also aren’t including folks like B.J. Jones or Stone Cates, whose deaths were part of emotional storylines that helped shape the foundations of GH and whose returns would undo such incredible storytelling.

Nathan West

Maxie wasn't the only one utterly devastated by the death of Detective Nathan West. Viewers all over were left heartbroken to lose such a handsome and heroic figure in Port Charles. With all the crime in that town, they need as many good guys as they can get, and this one is sorely missed. It would take some very creative writing to figure out a way to bring him back, but we're pretty sure fans would accept any explanation as long as it meant Nathan was back with his family again.

Helena Cassadine

There are certainly plenty of dead Cassadines who could stir up trouble in Port Charles by returning from the grave, but our pick would have to be Helena because when it comes to evil, she's the queen! Imagine how much better Jake almost releasing a bio toxin at the Nurses Ball might have been if Helena was actually alive and behind it, not just in flashbacks? GH could use a strong villain to drive a big umbrella storyline, and who better for that then Helena?

Morgan Corinthos

Morgan's explosive demise created no end of drama for everyone around him, so just imagine what would happen if he came sauntering back into Port Charles looking for a litlte payback? He'd certainly have a thing or two to say to Ava! Of course, since actor Bryan Craig is busy in primetime, he'd have to come back with a new face, but a little plastic surgery is common after being caught in an explosion!

Sabrina Santiago

Poor Michael just can't seem to catch a break. He already lost girlfriend Abby Haver to the Grim Reaper years ago, and more recently, Sabrina. (Nelle, on the other hand, managed to elude his bony grasp!) She was a bright light in the darkness of Port Charles, and was snuffed out far too soon. There was plenty of story to tell with her and Michael raising her son, even though Carlos was the real babydaddy, but we never got to see it play out. Bringing her back would brighten up Michael's life, and if she came back with her baby, that would be even better!

Nikolas Cassadine

Valentin may think he'd gotten rid of Nikolas and taken the Cassadine fortune for himself, but you'll remember that Nik faked his own death shortly before his most recent demise. So it's understandable that fans aren't convinced he's really, most sincerely, dead. And so we're just waiting for the inevitable fireworks that come from Nikolas' return to wrest control of the Cassadine family from Valentin! (Unfortunately, given that Tyler Christopher is busy playing Stefan over on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, he's unavailable. Perhaps the most recent recast, Nick Stabile, could fill in on a more permanent basis?)

Duke Lavery

We were just as excited as everyone else to have Duke back in Port Charles, and just as devastated when he was unceremoniously gunned down by Carlos, dying in Anna's arms. Such an ignoble end for such a dynamic character. But hey, the guy has cheated death in the past, so why not do it once more? Especially since his return would make for a terrific monkey wrench to throw into Anna's new romance with Finn!

Emily Quartermaine

The Quartermaine family hasn't been the same in years, and losing members like Emily are one of the big reasons why. Why not bolster up the Q's by revealing that somehow Emily wasn't killed by the Text Message Killer? We're pretty sure fans wouldn't complain too much about anything that brought this beloved character back to the canvas!

Alan Quartermaine

If you really want to bolster the Quartermaine family, though, you really should give it a cantankerous patriarch. Someone like Alan, who has been sorely missed by longtime GH fans. The occasionally ghostly visit just isn't enough — figure out a way to bring Alan back to life and we would be delighted! Monica would also be thrilled... even if she would no longer be able to lord over everyone in earshot that the mansion is hers!
