Chloe Lanier Opens up About Returning to General Hospital

Reports have Nelle returning to GENERAL HOSPITAL for another visit, and while a rep for the soap wouldn’t confirm anything specific, they’ve told Soaps In Depth in the past that bringing the character back to the canvas is “always a possibility.” And actress Chloe Lanier admitted to us she’s always up for another appearance! “I live 10 minutes away from the studio and I’m always happy to come back,” she revealed. “It’s just a matter of scheduling or what they need for story purposes.”

During this time when Nelle has been locked away in Ferncliff, Lanier informed us that she’s remained in touch with GH executive producer Frank Valentini, but confessed she doesn’t know any details of the storyline twists to come in the Wiley/Jonah baby swap. “I am completely in the dark, but I like that Nelle still has this power over so many people and they have no idea as she’s behind bars,” she grinned. “That is really, really cool!”

As the storyline has gone on, fans have grown frustrated that Michael still doesn’t know that his son is alive and that Lucas is unaware that Brad swapped the baby boy they’d adopted with Nelle’s child after theirs passed away suddenly in his crib. Which also means that Willow has no idea that Wiley isn’t the son she gave up for adoption and that her baby is actually dead. But as the tale grows more and more complex and dramatic, Lanier is happy to be observing it all from the other side of the screen. “It’s been a whole other experience,” she confided of her new life post-GH. “I’m glad I left when I did, because I think my identity, subconsciously, became so wrapped up in working on the show that I forgot who I was a bit.

“I’ve been auditioning like crazy,” Lanier continued, “my boyfriend and I are writing together, and I’ve done a lot of self-care over the past few months — which has been phenomenal for my psyche.” Unfortunately, we’re not sure Nelle has been getting that kind of treatment in Ferncliff, so when she makes another appearance, who knows what she’ll be like?
