They say evil never dies, and that's especially true when it comes to soap villains, especially the Cassadines. Helena Cassadine is returning to GENERAL HOSPITAL to tie into a current storyline in a very unexpected way! Our friends at TV Line are reporting that Constance Towers will be reprising her role for a flashback to air during the Monday, Aug. 19, episode that takes place during Drew and Shiloh's time in Afghanistan.
However, who is having this flashback? Drew doesn't remember his time as a Navy SEAL, but Franco was recently implanted with his memories. And while Shiloh doesn't remember everything that went on in Afghanistan, how can you forget meeting the infamous Helena Cassadine? To find out whose flashback it is, as well as how Helena ties into the whole storyline, you'll just have to tune in!
The character of Helena Cassadine was first introduced back in the fall of 1981 and was played by GH fan Elizabeth Taylor in a special guest appearance. When she returned to Port Charles in 1997 full-time, the role was taken over by Towers. She made frequent appearances over the years, but her nefarious schemes seemed to come to an end in 2016 when she passed away. Still, Helena has reached out from "beyond the grave" in various nightmares and also in flashbacks when it was revealed that she was the one who planned to have Jake Webber release the Chimera Virus during the 2017 Nurses Ball!
Since this is only a flashback, it would seem that Helena is still six feet under, but in soaps, you never really know! Stay tuned to see how the storyline unfolds and for more GH casting news, keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
