General Hospital's December 18 Episode Preempted Nationally

As many fans expected, the extensive news coverage of the presidential impeachment process has preempted their favorite daytime soaps again. However, while the Dec. 18 episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL, was preempted, viewers won’t have to worry about missing a single moment of the drama, romance, and action because that episode will simply air on Thursday, Dec. 19. “Update for our GH viewers,” tweeted ABC executive Nathan Varni. “Coverage of the house impeachment debate will continue today. We are going to push today’s episode to tomorrow. However, please note that our special holiday episode will continue to air as scheduled for Monday, Dec. 23.”

Because the special holiday episode of GH offering up their own unique take on the classic A Christmas Story is completely separate from the regular episodes, there’s no reason to bump that show to continue falling in line with the newly revised air dates. So that’s nice! And in the case of Canadian viewers whose Wednesday episode was not preempted, they will be treated to an encore episode of GH on Thursday so they won’t get ahead of the US.

If a soap is only preempted in certain markets, things can get complicated for fans who are forced to search out the episode on demand or online in order to make sure they don’t fall behind. But in this case, there will be no hoops to jump through because all you have to do is tune in tomorrow.
