Some familiar daytime faces are starring in MOOD SWINGS, a brand new sitcom premiering on Thursday, Oct. 24 on streaming service Pure Flix! Created by and starring Crystal Hunt (Lizzie, GUIDING LIGHT; Stacy, ONE LIFE TO LIVE), the series co-stars Donna Mills (ex-Madeline, GENERAL HOSPITAL) as her mother and Scott Bailey (Sandy, GL) as her ex-husband. The plot of the series centers around Hunt's character raising extra money by renting out rooms in her home, and one of her tenants is played by another daytime alum, Robin Riker (ex-Beth, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL).
"She gets divorced and she gets the house, but no money," Mills previewed to Soaps In Depth. "So she has to rent out rooms in order to make ends meet and it's about the people that she gets to rent the rooms and their life together. It's fun! I play Crystal's mom — crazy Wanda!"
Fans who have only seen Mills in her divalicious roles as Madeline on GH or Abby on KNOTS LANDING might be surprised to see her in a sitcom, but she loved playing such an over-the-top comedic character. "That's the reason I took it," the actress confided, "because it's fun to play comedy. People don't know that I do comedy. I started out doing comedy, but they don't know I do it."
Hunt was inspired to create the series to fill a gap in the market. "We felt there was a need for a great female ensemble comedy," she said. "Right now you can only watch reruns of shows like GOLDEN GIRLS and DESIGNING WOMEN to enjoy a female-driven show. Our thinking was to embrace the legacy of these programs while adding a modern twist."
