Oscar’s death on GENERAL HOSPITAL was an absolutely heartbreaking storyline that left fans everywhere in tears. But many were also curious about the song, “Get Back Home,” that aired at the end of the May 2 episode. With lyrics like: “I don’t really want that much. Maybe just more time. But somehow I know you must leave so take the wheel and ride. And get back home. Get back home.” it was the perfect accompaniment for the emotional scenes.
“Get Back Home” is by musician Chris Arena, and the single is available for purchase on iTunes. Arena is a singer-songwriter who has written many tunes for television series including PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, YOUNGER, and RAVENSWOOD. And his song, “Dreams,” used on GH in 2015 when Nathan and Maxie first made love, earned Arena an Daytime Emmy Award!
The music began softly as Josslyn texted Cameron to let him know that Oscar had passed away. Cam struggled to figure out how to reply and ultimately just tossed his phone aside to collapse in tears. Carly then told Josslyn that the ambulance had come to take Oscar away and they joined the rest of the family in the foyer of the Quartermaine mansion as Drew and Kim brought their son out to put him on the gurney. And as Oscar was wheeled out, everyone embraced in tears as the song continued playing to close out the episode.
Currently, “Get Back Home” is only available on iTunes, but we’ll update you if it becomes available on other platforms. For more GH news, keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
