Fans of GENERAL HOSPITAL were upset when the news broke that Billy Miller (Drew) is leaving the soap, and they're not the only ones. His longtime co-star, Kelly Monaco (Sam), has finally spoken out about his exit. "I feel like I have to address this situation," she tweeted. "Billy Miller's untimely departure from GH. Honestly, I cannot come up with the words to describe how I feel about this decision… a decision that may not be what our audience thinks to be true. I'm heartbroken… more to come."
Miller first joined the cast of GH back in 2014 as a recast of the Jason Morgan character, and found himself thrust into a love triangle between Monaco's Sam and Rebecca Herbst's Liz. However, when Steve Burton returned to the soap and reclaimed his role of Jason, it was revealed that Miller's character was actually his previously-unknown twin brother, Drew Cain. Miller and Monaco continued to work together as Drew and Sam forged a relationship, but when she eventually returned to Jason, the characters went their separate ways.
GH does not comment on actor contracts, and has not confirmed when Miller will last air as Drew, although since he reportedly taped his last scenes at the end of July, his exit should occur sometime towards the end of August, given the soap's filming schedule. Perhaps when that day comes, Monaco will offer up the "more to come" that she promised in her initial tweet. Naturally, we'll keep you up to date as the story continues to develop.
