Best wishes to daytime superstar Laura Wright, who is celebrating her birthday today! The actress got her start back in 1991 when she made her debut as Allison “Ally” Rescott Bowman on LOVING. When that soap was canceled in 1995, she then brought the character over to its short-lived spinoff, THE CITY for two years. After ABC axed that show as well, Wright moved over to CBS to play Cassie Layne on GUIDING LIGHT, where she stayed until 2005. She then moved back to ABC to be the fourth actress to take over the role of Carly Corinthos on GENERAL HOSPITAL, where she continues to deliver powerhouse performances to this day!
For her work on GH, Wright has earned four Daytime Emmy Award nominations over the years, taking home the trophy for her very first nomination in 2011. In 2015, she made a cameo appearance in the Jennifer Lawrence movie Joy alongside GH co-stars Maurice Benard (Sonny) and Donna Mills (ex-Madeline).
In real life, Wright married architect John Wright in 1995, and they have two children, daughter Lauren, and son John. They announced their divorce back in April of 2016, and just over a year later, Wright revealed that she had a new man in her life — former GL castmate Wes Ramsey (Sam)!
For over 25 years, Wright has been thrilling daytime audiences with her talent and beauty. Take a look through the gallery below to see some of her most stunning Daytime Emmy red carpet looks through the decades!
