There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Cameron sang “North Star” on GENERAL HOSPITAL at the 2019 Nurses Ball. With a background of photos of himself and his friends with the late Oscar Nero, it added extra poignancy to lyrics like: “For as long as I can remember, you were there. All the memories and promises that we shared. ‘Cause you and I both know life doesn’t always go the way you planned.”
“North Star” is an original composition by Cameron’s portrayer, William Lipton, who is a talented musician in his own right. In fact, he recently opened up for performer Charlie Puth at his concert in Hawaii! And he’s also spoken about how he likes to use his music to give back to the community and help people.
“Thank you so much for all your kind words for the song Cam was singing at the Nurses Ball,” Lipton tweeted after the episode aired and the overwhelming fan reaction on social media. “The spotlight should be at the GH writers who inspired me to write this song. Their words in the script were so beautiful.” He also expressed his gratitude to the soap's executive producer, Frank Valentini. “Thank you for believing in me,” the young star declared, “and Paul Glass [GH’s musical director] for your never-ending support and tremendous music knowledge, and all GH crew. I’m so thankful. Thank you also to my production team in Concord California, Canvas, who helped form and build ‘North Star.’”
Unfortunately, the song isn’t yet available for purchase on iTunes, but Lipton did provide a link to “North Star” on SoundCloud so that fans could listen to it whenever they like. You can also watch Cam’s amazing performance clip from the 2019 Nurses Ball in the video below.
