GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Risa Dorken Previews What’s Next for Nurse Amy!
Just over a year ago, Risa Dorken joined the cast of GENERAL HOSPITAL as nurse Amy, but over that time, viewers still haven’t learned a whole lot about the character aside from the fact that she went to school with Dillon and is now roommates with Kristina. But during a Facebook Live Q&A session with castmate Robert Palmer Watkins (Dillon), Dorken revealed that fans are going to discover a lot more about her scheming alter ego!
“Coming up I can say that you learn why Amy is the way she is,” the actress teased. “So we’re gonna delve a little bit deeper into Amy.”
Dorken also revealed that she was a little starstruck filming this year’s Nurses Ball and working with Mario Lopez! “I am Kelly Kapowski in my inner soul,” she chuckled, “so that was pretty amazing. I literally looked into his eyes and he is as nice and as gorgeous as everything that you would want him to be.”
Because the ball brings together characters who normally are isolated in their own storylines, the event also let Dorken meet one of her GH castmates she’d never met before! “I just met Maurice [Benard, Sonny] shooting this year’s ball!” she confided. “I’d seen him in passing a couple times. I’ve only been here about a year. So I just met Maurice for the first time, and… amazing.”

Amy has had scenes with both Dillon and Nathan, neither of whom are single, but could the nurse make a play for one of them? “I mean, which one should I pick?” Dorken laughed. “The options are both phenomenal! Amy is an opportunist, so she’s keeping her options open at the time.”
However, it’s just that kind of scheming attitude that has made Amy a character GH viewers love to hate (or occasionally just hate!). “Amy has what some people consider unlikeable qualities,” Dorken admitted. “But I love her and I think she’s very realistic. She’s just a human being. We all have flaws.
“We all have days where we put our foot in our mouth and say the wrong thing at the wrong time,” the actress continued. “So she’s living through that and learning and becoming a better person. You guys will see coming up why Amy is the way she is. But until then, you’ll have to keep watching!”
