At a recent fan event, Tamara Braun admitted that she was leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL. Afterward, some fans reached out to the actress on social media, and she was grateful for their support and her time on GH. "Wish I was staying," she tweeted to a fan, "but thrilled I got the time I did and got to meet new people like you as well." To another, she responded: "I will miss being there. Thank you for your kindness and support."
Braun was originally on GH from 2001-05 playing Carly Corinthos, earning a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actress category in 2004. So longtime fans were delighted to see the talented actress back in Port Charles in a new role when she rejoined the soap as Kim Nero in November of 2017.
Introduced as Oscar's mother, Kim had a powerful front-burner storyline as she revealed that her son was dying of an inoperable brain tumor. Unfortunately, during this time, while she reconnected with Oscar's father, Drew Cain, and started a romance with Julian Jerome, Oscar's death sent the character into a downward spiral from which she was unable to recover. When Franco was implanted with Drew's memories, the grieving mother latched onto him and seemed unable to face the reality of her situation.
With Kim determined to leave Port Charles for a fresh start away from memories of Oscar, hopefully, the doctor gets the help she so desperately needs. Stay tuned to see how her story wraps up and for more GH casting news, keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
