Happy birthday to daytime star Roger Howarth, who turns 48 today! After brief stints on GUIDING LIGHT as Jory and LOVING as Kent, Howarth joined the cast of ONE LIFE TO LIVE as Todd Manning in 1992. It was meant to be a short-term role, but he proved so popular with fans that Howarth played the part on and off until the soap went off the air.

Howarth left OLTL and took the role of Paul Ryan on CBS sudser AS THE WORLD TURNS in 2003, earning two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor to go along with his Supporting Actor nod and Younger Actor win for playing Todd. When ATWT was canceled in 2010, Howarth returned to OLTL, although as the character of Todd had been recast with another actor, there were some storyline hoops the writers had to jump through to explain who the real Todd was!
OLTL came to an end in 2012, and Howarth’s Todd crossed over to GENERAL HOSPITAL along with Kristen Alderson’s Starr and Michael Easton’s John. Unfortunately, legal issues with Prospect Park over the online return of OLTL meant that those characters couldn’t be used on GH anymore. So after returning to play Todd briefly during the short-lived online series, when Howarth went back to GH, he became a recast of the character Franco, originally played by James Franco. Phew! Complicated enough for you?
Howarth’s real life is much less complicated. He married actress Cari Stahler and they have two wonderful children, Langston and Julian. Celebrate this talented actor’s birthday by remembering his incredible performances on OLTL, ATWT, and GH with the flashback photos in the gallery below!
