Congratulations to ALL MY CHILDREN alums Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (Matéo), who are embarking on an all-new adventure together! The couple will be developing the upcoming book, Geek Girl Rising: Inside the Sisterhood Shaking Up Tech, as a scripted television series!
According to Variety, ABC Studios has optioned the book, and Ripa and Consuelos will executive produce along with Albert Bianchini through their Milojo Productions banner.
The book, by journalists Heather Cabot and Samantha Walravens, chronicles the women who are creating the next generation of tech start-ups like Debbie Sterling, the creator of GoldieBlox, and Tracy Chou, former lead software developer at Pinterest. According to the authors, just 2.7 percent of venture capital-funded companies have a female CEO, and 56 percent of women in technology drop out mid-career. As their series is said to be scripted, it will likely follow fictional characters in the tech industry based on real-life women.
Ripa and Consuelos met on the set of AMC back in 1995, and have three children together: Michael, 19, Lola, 15, and Joaquin, 14. Ripa is currently the host of the long-running morning talk show, LIVE! WITH KELLY, while Consuelos was most recently seen as Oscar Arguella in FOX’s primetime series PITCH.
The couple’s New York City-based Milojo Productions is named after their children, with the first two letters of each of their names making up “Mi-Lo-Jo.” Their first project was the Emmy-nominated feature documentary The Streak for ESPN, and has produced series for TLC, CMT, and LOGO. Their most current project is the reality series FIRE ISLAND, premiering on LOGO.
