There have been so many mentions of Nikolas Cassadine on GENERAL HOSPITAL that some viewers are wondering if the soap is hinting at the return of the fan-fave character. The character was originated by actor Tyler Christopher in 1996, and many are hoping that now that he's no longer playing Stefan on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, he's free to return to Port Charles. "You all are very sweet to be so loyal as you always are," Christopher tweeted in response to the fan response. "I know they are talking about Nikolas as of late. I've always said I would never close that door from my side. I just want to thank you all for always rooting for me and the character. I grew up with him as many of you have."
In fact, just a couple days earlier, on June 15, the actor retweeted a GH fan account that shared some screenshots from Nikolas' very first appearance back in 1996!
Wo! Who’s that dude? https://t.co/ltvXhwjbCy— Tyler Christopher (@Tyler2929) July 15, 2019
Nikolas has been around for many years, but has not always been played by Christopher. In 1999, Colton Scott took over for four years. Christopher returned in 2003 and stayed with GH until his exit in 2016 when Nik faked his own death. And for the character's final appearances as Nikolas was shot by Valentin and fell over a balcony to his presumed death, the role was played by actor Nick Stabile.
With Nikolas' name on everyone's lips, and Ava unable to get her psychic friend to contact his spirit, it would seem that reports of his death were greatly exaggerated. But if Nikolas actually does return to Port Charles, will Christopher be playing him or might it be someone else? You'll have to stay tuned to find out and for more GH news, keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
