After weeks of speculation, Jason Thompson (Patrick) took to Instagram Friday to finally confirm his exit from GENERAL HOSPITAL.
"I have made the difficult decision to bid farewell to a character I love playing for over 10 years," Thompson posted late Friday afternoon. "It was not an easy decision but I felt like it's time to hang up Doctor Drake's white coat and scrubs.
"I want to thank [executive producer] Frank Valentini, [ABC executive vice-president] Vicki Dummer and [ABC president] Paul Lee for their support and appreciate their understanding," he continued. "To everyone at ABC, the GH crew, producers, writers, directors, my beloved classmates and those in my home away from home, the makeup room, I can't possibly begin to tell you what you mean to me.
"Most importantly I would like to thank the fans," he concluded. "GH changed my life and I have you to thank for that. I am forever grateful for your love and support and for embracing me and this character all these years. I mean these words from the bottom of my heart: GH is family to me, and I'll miss all of you dearly."
Speculation was already flying fast and furious when news broke that Kimberly McCullough (Robin) was returning to GH, leading fans to suspect she was being used to usher Thompson's character off the canvas. And now, the actor has made it official.
"So grateful for all your love," Thompson added via twitter. "It's a crazy thing, believe me. But truly... Thank you! And we still have great story to tell...hold on!"
