Where Has Laura Been?

Genie Francis made her long-awaited return to GENERAL HOSPITAL today when her alter ego, Laura, crashed Luke and Tracy’s engagement party. Laura’s return to Port Charles is a big deal, not only forGH fans, but also for those in the former Mrs. Spencer’s life. We’ll help you catch up on what led to her exit two years ago and where she has been since!

Back in 2013, Laura and Scotty were newlyweds of only a month when a hospitalized Luke received a mysterious package containing a DVD. It featured a frightening message from the grave: Helena Cassadine had been poisoning him with a deadly toxin (discovered later to be Polonium 210), and there was a shrinking window of time to save his life! The year before, Jerry Jacks had poisoned the Port Charles water supply with the toxin and was in possession of the counteragent at the time of his presumed death in an explosion on the docks. Luke was convinced that Jerry was still alive and vowed to track him down.

Scott begged Laura to drop her concerns for Luke, which led to a major a blow-out between the couple. Tracy finally caved and admitted everything to Laura, and the women discussed how they would find Luke… and how Scotty would feel about it! Scotty, ultimately, gave Laura his blessing to go search for Luke. Laura’s plan to revive Deception Cosmetics with Lucy was put on the back burner while Laura ran off to find her ex.

But upon Luke and Laura’s return to Port Charles, her short marriage to Scotty was beyond repair. Although she promised that she was 100 percent in their marriage, he begged to differ, and wanted a divorce. As he saw it, Luke would always come first with her. “I can’t be that guy going 15 rounds to get you to love me the way I love you, and I think that you are also tired of me being that guy,” he told her.

Moments later, Laura got a call from her doctors in Paris, who wanted her to return for her yearly wellness evaluation. Laura wanted to stay with Lulu to help with her newborn baby, but Lulu insisted her mother take care of herself first. With that, Laura kissed her family good-bye and left.
