With Josslyn still grieving the death of Oscar, both her father and stepfather have stepped up to support her on GENERAL HOSPITAL. “Daddy’s home, and he’s a safe place for Josslyn,” the brokenhearted teen’s portrayer, Eden McCoy, maintained to Soaps In Depth. “She needs Jax, but Sonny is Uncle Sonny. He’s not blood, but he’s the closest thing to it. It’s a completely different dynamic between Sonny and Joss. They both love Carly, and Sonny’s always there for her.” For Jax, the fact that his daughter sees the Mob boss that way clearly poses a problem. “He can’t like that she’s gotten closer to Sonny,” said McCoy with a chuckle.
Ingo Rademacher (Jax) agrees that Sonny and Josslyn’s bond really sticks in his character’s craw. “It must be like nails on a chalkboard for him,” the actor sighed. “When Jax was away, it was explained that he talked to his daughter on the phone all the time, she came to visit him in Australia… we’ve established all those things. Now, Jax and Sonny are forced to get along, because his wife and I share a daughter whom he has helped raise. When I heard that Jax was buying Crimson, I was kind of surprised. That’s almost too small-scale for Jax. He’s a corporate raider who takes businesses apart and sells pieces. But he’s been thinking about the future and working at Crimson is really about being closer to his daughter.”
Sure, Jax and Sonny have called a truce for the time being. But it’s hard for any longtime viewer to imagine any peace treaty between the alpha males working long-term considering the explosive history between them. “This relationship has evolved over 20 years,” Rademacher pointed out. “Sonny and Jax used to just hate each other. They still hate each other! So anything Jax can do — like that dig about buying Kate’s old house next door — is fun. ‘I think I’m going to buy it. Won’t it be great? I can come over every day and you can pour me a drink like you are right now.’”
So while Carly’s current and former husbands have been holding back on that hatred thus far, the gloves may very well come off once they’ve both deemed Joss healed from losing Oscar. And we suspect Jax won’t be particularly happy if his impressionable daughter just so happens to move on with Dev, Sonny’s mysterious “cousin” living down the hall!
