Fans were freaking out online when rumors hit that Ryan Paevey is leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL! The actor, who joined the soap as Detective Nathan West in December of 2013, has left a couple times before to take time off to film movies, but sadly, this exit is much more permanent. "The decision to leave was mine," Paevey revealed on Twitter. "[GH executive producer] Frank Valentini and I sat down to talk as gentlemen, and while he was disappointed, he gave me a better send-off than I ever could have asked for, and I will always be grateful."
After the recent revelation that the villainous Cesar Faison is Nathan’s father, Maxie has feared for their safety and that of their unborn child. And in the Jan. 26 episode, while attempting to rescue his wife from Faison, the criminal shot him! Doctors at General Hospital rushed the heroic cop into surgery, but tragically, although he survived the operation, Nathan flatlined with Maxie at his side on Jan. 30!
Paevey’s most recent break was back in August when he went to Canada to film the Hallmark Channel movie Harvest Love with Jen Lilley, who was a temporary recast for Maxie before joined GH. Before that, he took some time off from his daytime job to play the villain in the indie thriller Locked In. The actor attended the Hallmark Channel Winter 2018 TCA Press Tour on Jan. 13, so he could be signing up to do another movie with them. His 2016 Hallmark Channel movie, Unleashing Mr. Darcy was a big hit, and is rumored to be getting a sequel, so that could be on his schedule.
So while fans won't be able to enjoy Paevey as Detective Nathan West on GH anymore, at least they can look forward to seeing him elsewehere on their TV's and on movie screens in the future!
